April 2018: Juluwarlu Artists shine at Revealed!
Immediately after Easter, six Juluwarlu artists travelled to Perth for the Revealed Arts Festival, Exhibition and Art Market day. On the first four days, our artists attended talks by some of Australia’s best Aboriginal artists, and together with other artists from more than 25 regional and remote Aboriginal Arts Centres participated in creative arts workshops and seminars. Our arts programs coordinator, Jan Teagle Kapetas, was an invited seminar speaker, sharing visuals and stories of our Nyinyart Yinda Residencies Project with Juluwarlu’s CEO, Lorraine Coppin. Our Exhibition artists’ Yarranga Marni boards and paintings sold well. Congratulations to Judith Coppin whose two yarranga marni were purchased by the Department of Sport, Local Government and Cultural Industries for their collection!
Our Art Market Stall sold nearly all the artworks, woven baskets, stitched fabrics and books we had for sale. Everyone agrees, the chance to network, meet and talk with prospective buyers and see the amazing works created by more than 25 Aboriginal Arts Centres across Western Australia was a great experience that will stand us strong through the years ahead!
