August 2018: Juluwarlu undertakes flora research with WA Botanic Garden
Twelve years ago, Juluwarlu’s CEO, Lorraine Coppin began intensively researching and recording the knowledge that Yindjibarndi and Ngarluma Elders and Cultural Custodians held about the plants that have sustained our peoples since the beginning of time. In 2005 published “Wanggalili: Yindjibarndi and Ngarluma Plants”, cataloguing the uses, names and photographs of more than 100 west Pilbara plants. This book is now out of print, but Lorraine is continuing this research which is recorded on a digital database. In August, we joined up with WA Botanic Garden experts to undertake a further survey of plants on our Yindjibarndi tableland country.
