Great News! Although our Juluwarlu artists program has only been running for 7 months, nine Juluwarlu Artists have been selected to exhibit thei work in April at Western Australia’s premier Emerging Aboriginal Artists Exhibition held annually at the Fremantle Arts Centre. In all, 15 works have been selected, some artists having more than one work chosen. Congratulations to Judith Coppin, Mitchell Tigan, Joylene Warrie, Jane Cheedy, Lyn Cheedy, Banyji Cheedy, Lorraine Coppin, Harry Mills and Joyce Hubert.
All of the artworks selected for the Exhibition emerged from our “Art New Ways” Residency. Banyji’s painting of spinifex at night is enriched by linen stiches.
Jane uses written text on her paintings. This one was accompanied by recorded a story & song which visitors heard as they viewed the Exhibition.
Joylene’s artwork is made on a yarranga marni birch board.
