March 2017: Archive News

Juluwarlu has just received news from the National Library of Australia that our Yindjibarndi Archive has been formally recognized as “an Archive of great significance for local people, as well as in State and national discourse.”

Our CEO, Lorraine Coppin began creating this collection of Yindjibarndi knowledge, culture, language and video recordings and artefacts when she realized that our Elders were growing older, and that, if someone did not begin recording their truly amazing wisdom and knowledge, it would be lost. Our current Archivist, Noelene Harrison is digitizing all the thousands of materials held by the Archive, so that future generations will always know our responsibilities and who we are.
