October 2016: Nyinyart Yinda Juluwarlu Artists Project.

News came from the Australia Council for the Arts that we have won funding that will support our planned Juluwarlu Nyinyart Yinda Arts and Cultural Residencies.

Our themes are Nyinyart – our traditions of caring for one another and country – and Yinda (the deep permanent pools) that remind us that water is he foundation of all living things, and has supported life on our Ngurra for more than 2,000 generations.

Our aims are to host three x 3 week long Residencies with acclaimed Western Australian artists that will be mutually supportive, intergenerational, and culturally enriching while developing foundational and innovative creative arts practices that draw upon our cultural connections with significant Yinda (deep permanent pools), Bawa (water) our Ngurra (country). Guest residencies will catalyse exciting new artworks, new skills and mutually supportive creative relationships by holding Artist Camps and art-focused cultural journeys and master classes at Juluwarlu that will initiate new skills among our artists.
