September 2017: Juluwarlu artists partner with 5 other Aboriginal Arts Centres
Cultural Futures Partnership funded!
In June 2017, Juluwarlu’s Artist Centre joined together with 6 Remote and Regional Aboriginal Arts Centres to draw up a submission to Country Arts WA to undertake a joint 2 year partnership that is designed to contribute to the growth and sustainability of Aboriginal Arts and artists. The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of Aboriginal Arts Centres to continue contributing to the Cultural Futures of each region through the skills development of our Next Generation artists and local Arts and Cultural Centre Leaders and Arts Workers. Our partners in the Cultural Futures project are Waringarri Arts (Kununurra), Yamatji Arts (Geraldton), Ku’Arlu Mangga Arts Centre (Northampton), Walkatjura Cultural Centre (Leonora), Warlayirrti Artists Centre, Balgo. AACHWA (Aboriginal Arts Centre Hub, WA) is coordinating and supporting our partnership Project.
Besides opportunities to attend workshops and build relationships and new skills, over the next 12 months, artists participating in Cultural Futures will be creating innovative new artworks that speak to their cultural and ecological relationships with Water in Country.
A major Group Exhibition is planned in Perth in late 2019.
